Consultants are warning state lawmakers that they should act rapidly to fight the potential threats posed by synthetic intelligence and deep fakes within the upcoming election. Shawn Henry, former govt assistant director of the FBI, joins Andrea Mitchell to debate. “Generative AI goes to alter the face of the 2024 election, in my view, and I believe that we have seen Russia, China, Iran, closely engaged in trying to affect or subvert elections globally. And that is solely going to worsen with generative AI,” Henry tells Andrea. “The instruments that may permit audio, video, photographs to be modified, the flexibility to very, in a short time and at scale, disseminate this false and deceptive data goes to have an effect there is no doubt.”
